Now many coaches and others think warming means running or jumping rope or other activity. But that takes away a lot of the energy you need and why would you want to be all sweaty and tired.h
The puepose of a warmup is to warm up your major joints…neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, knees and ankles. Taking each joint through its range of motion several times warms up the fluid in each joint. One the fluid is warmed, it expands and allows the joints to move freely.
Once you’ve done the warmup, you can now stretch the muscles attached to those joints more easily.
You can also use this same routine to cool down after your workout.
